IOM Using VuMAX High Resolution Ultrasound System

The Institut Oftàlmic de Mallorca (IOM) is equipped with the Sonomed VuMax, which is a system that captures ultrasonic high frequency B-Scan images used in ophthalmology for the front portion of the eye.

The VuMAx can offer precise angle measurement. This can be used to evaluate the angle of the front portion of the eye for use in glaucoma and any other areas where an angle is needed in degrees. Both portions can be edited, allowing the user to select and drag the lines wherever desired.

It includes the A-Scan Arbitrari. This tool allows the user to measure any distance with an A-Scan vector trace. This vector can be arranged with any transversal cut within the scan portion. Using two entries, the user selects either eco edge zoomed or reduced along the A-Scan trace in order to obtain a measurement. This function can also be used as a calibrating ruler to measure any desired distance between two points.

Colour Image: From the beginning of ultrasound, the grey scale has always been used and has become the standard for ultrasound image viewing and diagnosis. However, there are certain circumstance where a correctly calibrated colour pallet shows the same information in a more defined manner [The following images are examples].
