The Ophthalmic Institute of Mallorca (IOM) was founded in 1984 by the ophthalmologist couple Riera Miró, at the location of the former Rotger Clinic (a hospital it is still linked to), which was located on General Riera Street in Palma. Due to the growth in technical and human resources and the lack of space, in 1990 IOM opened its new facilities near the clinic, on Anselm Turmeda Street, where our headquarters are currently located.

Our commitment to constant renewal and updating in each of our areas of specialization and our dedication to continuous improvement positions us at the forefront of diagnostic and treatment techniques for vision problems.

This optimal medical care would be meaningless if it were not complemented by a highly demanding patient service: closeness in treatment, agility, and efficiency for the comfort of the client.

Among the different services that make us unique on the island, the following stand out:

• We offer the only private ophthalmology emergency service in the Balearics available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day – in collaboration with the Rotger Clinic – attended by a specialist in ophthalmology.
• We have the only laser system in the autonomous community for corneal transplants and treatments.
• We are the only Balearic center that has a VuMax ultrasound machine. It is a high-frequency B-Scan diagnostic ultrasound imaging system with applications for the anterior section of the eye.
• We are the only center in Mallorca that generally uses ZEISS intraocular lenses.
